Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings, who signed a 10-day contract with the team on Sunday, nearly recorded a triple-double in his first NBA game in almost a year during Monday’s 121-103 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
Jennings, who started the season playing for Shanxi Zhongyu in the Chinese CBA, scored 16 points, notched 12 assists and grabbed eight rebounds in 24 minutes.
It’s crazy, Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo said. Brandon Jennings is an NBA player. It doesn’t surprise me what he did tonight and hopefully he can help us moving forward.
Jennings signed with the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks’ G League affiliate, on Feb. 13. His triumphant return helped push the Grizzlies’ losing streak to 18 straight games. The 28-year-old credited his time with China with helping him get his life back in order on and off the floor.
Although they have lost seven straight games to their provincial rivals, the Flames (34-26-10) managed to get one point during the last installment of the Battle of Alberta in Edmonton on Jan. 25, when the Oilers (30-34-4) eked out a 4-3 shootout victory.
Honestly, we don’t like each other, but at this time of year it doesn’t matter the opponent, we have to find a way to get two points, defenseman Mark Giordano said. They’re a team who’s playing well who has a lot of firepower.
We know what they have over there, but every team’s going to have the same sort of obstacles. We’ve just got to find ways to get points and that’s the bottom line right now.
Giordano added that the Flames would like nothing more than to reward their fans with a win over the Oilers, especially since Calgary has compiled a less-than-stellar 14-16-4 record on home ice.
The Pacers led throughout the second half, but they had a hard time separating themselves from Philadelphia. A key sequence came with just under four minutes left when Trevor Booker blocked Embiid’s short jumper and Oladipo drained a 3-pointer from the right wing to make it 97-89 with 3:18 remaining.
Oladipo, who was averaging 23.8 points coming into the night, finished 11 points on 4-for-21 shooting, including 1 for 4 from 3-point range.
