Two years ago, the Astros selected a college hitter with the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, and Alex Bregman has worked out pretty well thus far. Burger has a ton of power, and the idea of this right-handed hitter taking regular aim at the Crawford Boxes in left field has to be exciting for Astros fans.
Pratto had the game-winning RBI in the championship game of the 2011 Little League World Series, which is pretty cool. He’s still a heck of a baseball player, which is more relevant to this discussion. Pratto could wind up several spots higher than this.
One of the perks of going to a baseball game for young fans is receiving a game-used baseball.
Unfortunately for one young fan attending the Pirates-Braves game Wednesday night at SunTrust Park, his baseball was taken away from him ’ by a security guard.
It all happened in the bottom of the eighth inning when the Braves’ Rio Ruiz hit the ball fair down the right field line. A fan reached over the outfield wall to grab the ball, and handed it to a boy.
Fan interference was called and a security guard aggressively motioned to remove the fan from the stadium and then took the ball away from the kid.
Maybe the Angels (if they decide to buy) and maybe the Yankees (if Greg Bird continues to struggle when he returns from the DL) and maybe the Astros. That’s about it. Certainly not enough teams to get into a bidding war for Hosmer. The thing is, if the Royals are going to trade him, they ideally would do it now, while Hosmer’s on a hot streak (.374 over his past 26 games), which doesn’t exactly mix with hoping a trade market develops for him down the road.
