Russell Westbrook upset with reporter for suggesting ball throw at ref was intentional

Wednesday was an all-around bad night for NBA MVP candidate Russell Westbrook.

The Thunder guard received a technical foul for hitting a referee in the head with the ball, he made just 10 of 31 shots in a loss to the Hornets, and he got into it with a reporter after the game. Westbrook was asked about the overhand throw that hit an unsuspecting Tre Maddox in the head, a throw Westbrook maintained was unintentional.

Butler entered Monday night’s marquee matchup with Russell Westbrook and the Thunder with a questionable tag due to an illness. He’s already been ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the Wizards and probably should have sat out Monday’s game. Butler finished with just one point on 0-of-6 shooting with seven assists and two rebounds in 29 minutes while Westbrook stole the show once again.

The Thunder MVP candidate scored 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out 14 assists in the 109-94 win over the Bulls. It’s the fourth time this season Westbrook has been one point, rebound or assist shy of a triple-double.

Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis had 40 points and 18 rebounds despite not even playing the fourth quarter against the Knicks due to a hip injury after taking a hard foul late in the third. It’s the fifth time this season Davis has scored at least 40 points, the second-most in the NBA.
